The song is called "Brand New Key" and it's by Melanie. (Melanie is her only name; no last name)
Geez, I totally HATED that song when it first came out, and now it's stuck in my head thanks to your question! You are in such trouble now, mister! :-)

Melanie it is. Just an aside, one of my co workers always has a stash of chocolate bars in a locked drawer in her desk. When I get a chocolate craving all I have to do is start singing at the top of my lungs, "I'VE GOT A BRAND NEW PAIR OF ROLLERSKATES, YOU GOT A BRAND NEW KEY" over and over. It won't be long before she gives me a chocolate bar just to shut me up. Thanks Melanie, I'm still getting a return on your song. Hope you don't mind!
