You can still have it. The expiration just means you can't update the files anymore so it's finding things but probably not all the things that it should. Try Ad-Aware or spybot. They are both free and don't have any expiration date.

Not sure what you are asking.

But in general, when security software expires, it continues to work. But the ability to update disappears. So while you can scan for the type of spyware that was current at the time of expiration, you are NOT protected from any NEW spyware developments.

My advice is to buy a comprehensive security suite such as TrendMicro Security Suite 2007 (PC-Cillin) and renew the subscription every year.

Here you are:

Pick and choose at least 2 from the list below. New spywares are created literally hourly, so no single anti-spyware can really detect all malware. Have at least 2 on hand and alternate scanning with each every few days or so. All are free. All can remove as well as detect.

Spybot Search and Destroy:

Ewido:

Adaware SE:

A-Squared:

Windows Defender (Beta 2):

Unfortunately, many "paid for" anti-spyware products are in fact either of limited usefulness or downright scams. When in doubt, look at the list of rogue anti-spyware solutions listed here:

And to protect your computer from ever getting infected with spyware in the first place, you can use these 2 freebies:

SpywareBlaster:

SiteAdvisor:

Since it has expired you won’t be able to get the most recent updates. In other words you are not using an effective program.

Ad-Aware is good, effective, free and highly recommended.
You may also try Spybot - Search & Destroy

yes bc the spysweeper will not have the newest updates to protect against the newest spyware out there, but it will still protect against the old spyware.
