at the back of my calculus book it say the answer is 1 and the question is 10 *x and not 10 ^x? This is grade 12 calculus in canada ... book name = advanced functions and introduction to calculus

You are wrong,
10 * x (if x=0)
= 0(Zero)

You're thinking not of 10 times X
(which could be represented as 10*X or 10x) but 10 to the power of X (which is usually represented as 10^x).

And since (any number)^0 =1, as X approaches 0 then 10^x approaches 1....

it doesn't. it's 0. (10 times zero = 0)

But your question is probably 10^(x)
In that case, the answer is one.

Since the function is defined at x=0, you just plug zero into the equation. 10^0=1

That's your answer.
