You don't help me with my job, so why should I help you with your job? The slower you are, the more time I have to read tabloids.

Personally I help the cashier, mostly for my own benefit to get out of the store faster but also because I've been a cashier at a grocery store. I've heard other cashiers say they go slow so customers won't go to them. But the fact is- it is YOUR job to bag the groceries if your store doesn't have designated baggers. And your customers who help don't get a discount for working there. So just thank the people who do help you and get on with it. It's frustrating but it's part of the job. Tomorrow's a new day hope it gets better....On the bright side if you are as good as you say maybe you'll be the next manager and get to fire all their lazy asses.

I love helping hard working cashiers bag. That's how I show them how much I appreciate their work ethic. By the way, I don't decide which line to get in by the length of the line, but by how fast the cashier is moving!

I'm so sorry you had a bad day. The fact is it is your job, but I don't mind helping out if I'm in a big hurry or it seems as though others in the line are. A good cashier is not only fast and hardworking but cheerful. You do not come to my workplace and assist me with my duties and I don't expect it. Don't expect people to assist you and try to give service with a smile.

Depends on the cashier if shes nice, then yeah I would help, but if she is rude, then Ill stand there and watch. But then again why bag my own groceries when im not gettin paid to do it. Why not check into gettin baggers.

I always help, only because I am a cashier too! If I wasn't a cashier I don't know if I would have before. I don't think I even paid attention to that. I guess people don't know unless they have walked in your shoes!

You should ask you Boss about getting a baggier for you. I do know how you feel. Been there and done that. What gets me is when as a customers, I try to help and get a dirty look from the cashier!!!!

I frequently bag my own stuff, but when you get someone who doesn't . . . slow down to the pace of the regular cashiers. Working at a killer rate is not actually good for anyone. Learn to pace yourself depending on the situation,

You'll notice in my answer I clearly stated that I will bag if it is busy, but the attitude of your previous question seemed as if you expected it of me, the customer.
I am the customer. I don't expect my customers in my business to help me if I get busy.
Your problem should not be with me, but with your coworkers that you say are slackers.
Peace

Sounds like you had a bad day. Maybe you should just pace yourself more. Trying to outwork your coworkers isn't earning you any brownie points it seems. Put your feet up or soak them. Try to relax and forget the jerk customers. That's life.
