My furnace has been short cycling. As a remedy it was brought to my attention to check my air conditioning coil. Upon looking at the coil there is no real way to remove it. The coil lays at approximately a 45 degree angle. At the top there is approximately a 1 inch gap, between coil and side. I was able to reach a few fingers in and found I couldn't even feel the coil. It was covered with dust and who knows what else. It was suggested to me to use Evap Powr Coil Cleaner. This is an interior no rinse application. Will this work? How often should one clean the coil?

you will have to take it out .there should be some screws on the front or side panel,or slips on the outside edge with screws.when you get it out you can vacuum it and pick it clean with fingers or a brush.

The Evap Powr Coil Cleaner may, or may not work, and even if it does there's a good possibility all that dust, dirt and lint is going to plug up the drain. Use a "loop" type toilet bowl brush to remove as much as you can, but DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE brush against the coil fins. Brush from top to bottom only in the same direction as the fins run.

Once you get it clean, make periodic checks to replace or clean the air filter. If you keep the air filter clean, you won't have to worry about the A-coil getting clogged again. I'd recommend a minimum of once a month, sooner if there's a lot of dust.
