the abs system is nothing but a pump and a bunch of sensors. there is a fault if the light is on.

if you cannot get a scan tool to reset the code just disconnect the battery and let it sit for a couple of mins.

if that does not work and keep the light off you need to have the system checked,

Yes, as ron said, you need to take your vehicle to a repair shop or dealership, because there is a problem with your ABS that it detected itself. The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) is a separate computer and piece from the standard brakes, it prevents the vehicle from skidding when you slam on the brakes. The little light comes on to warn you that there is something wrong and (as I believe with Chevy's, at least) it also indicates that, since there is a problem, the ABS is not currently working. Your regular brakes are working, though, but get this checked out as soon as possible to avoid complications and a potential accident.

That light can come on for 100's of reasons, some of them can drive you crazy throwing money at the problem. If you have an Advance or Auto Zone parts house they will run the code on the car for free. The problem with the codes are vague, and they can have you looking at several parts. Over 75000 miles it's more than likely a cylinder running too rich or lean, and that's something you wouldn't notice right away.

If you have a local Autozone parts store, call them. They have a little machine that they reset it with and it's free. I've had them do it on my Jeep Cherokee.
If your light comes back on then have a professional check the system for you and probaly expect to fork over the dough.

Take it to the dealer or a good electrical shop and have them rum a diagnostic scan on it. That'll take the guess work out of the diagnosis, and save a ton of time and money trying out different parts.

You probably have a bad wheel speed sensor, or a bad front sensor harness. Both of these are common on your car.
