I have been told that it only works with japanese games and i want to know if it is true or false

Its true. Japanese playstation ONLY plays Japanese games.
I had to buy an American one to play my U.S. games. Wait for PS3...no region coding! yea!

no every one here is wrong no they are made from japanese but the games are made there too but they are not japanese games well they are but they are english

It is true because a PS2 is made ij japan. But the games are in english.
