If you want to get better then the ONLY thing you can do is commit some time every day to practicing. It is not about cramming in 5 hours on the weekend but rather 30min to 1 hour every day.

All a guitar lessons teacher can do it help guide YOUR practicing. And yes, they are important especially at first. I took 5-6 lessons from this teacher and it really helped a lot.

Yes lessons will help you out alot. I took lessons off and by different instructors and the hardest thing to get over is the feeling that your not going anywhere. At first it's great and they really help you out but sometimes you go and it feels like your not learning anything new. I am taking a music theory class at college and since I have take lessons most of the stuff I already knew and I was surprised how much I knew. Stick with it through the boring periods.

Yeah! I pay 40 bucks a month for lessons but my sis gives 'em to me so I get a discount. But yeah, it'll help if you get a good teacher! If u can talk to any of the students of the teacher before you start taking lessons that would help. that way you can know what level the instructor is on, etc. If you already know a lot of chords and stuff you'll wanna make sure the teacher can advance from like beginner to your level. Good luck!!

it wont hurt. it can bring you out of a rut if your stuck in one. you can also learn new techniques and fingering patterns. the alternative is, if you know any good players, have them show you stuff, its usually free. also go out and watch other players., youll be surprised at how much you can learn. ive been playing in bands for years and have yet to pay for a lesson. most of my friends have been musicians tho. good luck.

It depends on whether you get a good 'teacher' or a good
guitarist. One doesn't always do the other; but hopefully
you can find someone who is good at both playing AND
teaching. Also, a personal teacher is much more productive
that a large class or group..................................
