first, remove the spark plug and try to turn the engine over to get the water out of the cylinder a mix of liquid wd40 and 2 stroke oil might help if the motor is locked. also you need to remove, clean and dry all electrical connections as well as dump the fuel and clean the whole fuel system out, if it went down in salt water it may be beyond repair, that stuff corrodes cars parked on shore, good luck !

Sterling m has the right answer. By pulling the spark plugs out and cranking the engine over, you are forcing any water out of the cylinders. You then have to make sure that the plugs are dry or have a new set of plugs. Put plugs back in and try to start engine. If it does not start, pull plugs back out and repeat process until engine starts.

More than likely it's water in the fuel line.

Empty the fuel tank and allow it to dry out. Blow the fuel line clear. Remove the spark plug(s) and crank the engine until no more water comes out. Refill the fuel tank, replace the spark plug with a new one and try it again.

If the engine is fuel-injected, you'll need to clean out the injector(s) as well.

I hope you weren't on salt water.. take out the spark plugs spray Dw 40 into the pistons, put new spark plugs, drain the gas tank put new gas, change the oil, let it dry for a day or two. And try it again.

Could be many reasons. Please give more details? Does it crank over? Was it running when it sunk? Could be water in the fuel or stuck in the carb. Anything electrical can fail if submerged. Check for spark and fresh fuel delivery first.

yeah, good luck..to build on other answers.......pull the plug, see if it turns over....replace ALL electrical components if it went down in salt water....there is no way to ever flush out electrical stuff if it took a salt bath......
if it was running when it went under, and sucked water into a cylinder......well, water is not compressible.....you certainly blew the head gasket and maybe warped the head so test for compression

Take the plugs out and replace. spray wd 40 into block. take air breather off over carberators. dry it out spray wd 40 in carbs. let block sit for a day and make sure battery still good and charged then try. Just hope your ignition module is closed up good. Good luck

MOst motors do not like being underwater. Checking the sparkplugs is a good idea. If there is water in the fuel, you are in for a major job to fix it.

if a jetski motor is anything like a fourwheeler motor if it sucked water into the intake too long before shutting off it is "hydro locked" and requires an engine rebuild.
