I don't think anyone has the definitive answer to this. I've heard it both ways. Some people say that the current population of the earth is about half the number of the people who have ever lived, but others say that there are more people living now than have ever previously lived and died. Then again, some people say that there have been "humans"- genetically modern homo sapiens for a lot longer than other people claim there have been. If there have been humans for a few hundred thousand years, there are probably more that have died than are currently living, but if the world is only six thousand or so years old then there are probably more people living now than in all previous human history combined. That's a problem with history. It always depends who you ask.

There are absolutely NOT more people alive than dead.

There are more humans living now than at any other single point in history, yes.

But there are not more humans living now than the total number of humans that have ever lived.

Most estimates place the total figure at somewhere near 110 billion humans. Compare this with 6.5 billion presently living.

Think about it this way. In order for there to be more people alive than dead, the mothers of everyone currently alive would have had to give birth to a huge number of children, something like 35 children each. Clearly this isn't the case!

I remember hearing somewhere once that approximately 1 out of every 30 persons who have ever lived are currently alive today. That would be about 29 or 30 times as many dead persons as there are living.

there are six billion people in the world alive, lets say one hundred years ago there where three billion, OK well there all dead, 100 years before that, lets say 2 billion they are all dead. keep going back 100 years count the world population and there all dead right, humans been around along time so ill guess there is much more then 6 billion humans in history of the earth that have died

No.
As soon as there are about as much people alive as have died, there will be something like a break even point, where all of earths food supplies wont be able to cover the demand for food.
Estimating the current population groth rate will be progressing without interference, that break even point will be reached in the year 2019

has to be dead, look how many people died in the black plagues, influenza outbreak in the thirties the takeover of the American continents, world war 1 and 2, Stalin just those stats are in the billions, and that's not including the few centuries of wars before that, or the normal deaths that happen everyday

I know that in the 1950's the world population was 2 billion.

Now it is over 6 billion, so i think the answer to your question is probably yes.

My initial response was, "How would it even be remotely possible for there to be more living people than dead bodies in the ground?" If you have a second, take a look at the source posted. It'll answer your question with more than another question. ,': )

I believe the answer would be yes. Americans are having more babies than ever now. In the old days there wasn't enough medical staff to have babies like they are nowadays.
