What kind of guitar should I get?

Question

I've never played the guitar, or any other music instrument, but I really want to play accoustic guitar. So what do you suggest for a beginner like me? It doesn't need to be fancy, I just want something that I could get started with. *NOTE* I'm only interested in accoustic guitars. Thanks!

Oh, also I forgot to say. If you reccomend a certain guitar (GREATLY appreciated) can you please inlcude the price? It doesn't have to be exact, just about what it costs. Thanks again!

Good for you. Too many youngsters try to learn on electric guitars and never really learn what they're doing.

Look for a good 6 sting, Gibson or Fender. You'll pay more but it will last you a lifetime.

In the beginning you can string it with Electric strings. They break a lot easier, but they will be a lot easier on your fingers until you get your callouses built up. Also, avoid any string with the name "Diamond" in the name at first. If your fingers aren't built up they'll cut them to ribbons. Wait until you've been playing a while to use Black Diamonds. (great strings, but tough on learners)

Before putting your guitar in the case for the night, detune it. Take all the tension off of all the strings until they are slack. This will prevent the neck from warping.

theres a guitar company called johnson that makes good beginner guitars for under $150 if you can get by the manly name. they do have a website, just type in johnson guitars. i inherited one that really doesnt play too bad. i think it lists for around $90. have fun.
