= 2a-16+7=5a+10-3a-19
= -16+7=10-19
= -9=-9
Not really an answer since 'a' cancels out

2(a-8)+7 = 5(a+2)=3a-19
2a-16+7 = 5a+10-3a-19
2a-9 = 2a-9
a = 0

The result is 0=0 so the stament is true because 0=0 if it were 0=4 is false
