My great aunt passed away this morning. She was 103.
Had a sharp clear mind untill about 6 months ago. Still sent out Christmas cards every year.
Do you know anyone that old that still has their wits about them?

I knew Rudy. He was 99. He had the strongest Norweigan accent and the CUTEST smile to show his pearly white and perfectly straight dentures. One time I was giving him a bath (I worked at the nursing home) and he was like "OooH Co0o0LD!!! Dwy me guud (dry me good) DWY ME GUUD!!" So he was pretty cold... poor Rudy... then he says "O0ooohh... you won't see me tomorrow!" I said... "Why not, Rudy?" And he said "Because I'll be dead.... you're going to kill me!"
He was hillarious... my favorite guy ever! But he didn't really have all hit wits about him.

Taht's old. My mother was 92. She was sharp until near the end with pneumonia caused total organ deterioration. She was, however, phyusically feeble for the last 10 years or so.

As an example, she communicated with a friend and found writing hard so she asked me to get a little dication tape recorder and she make little tapes and sent them and her freind also got a little tape recorder.

Smart and technically savvy at 91.

Friend of mine, "Mrs. Seanor," just died at 106. Still quite witty, also. My mother-in-law is 98. Have several friends in the 95-105 age range. All maintained healthy lifestyles in the past. Seventh-day Adventist

my grandmother passed this past spring. she was also 103, and until the last few weeks was very much aware and active. she couldn't drive herself but was able to do all her own shopping and other errands as long as she had a ride.

My aunt is 99 and still lives on her own. She does all her own cleaning and housework and can carry on conversations and remember things just as well as anyone I know.

Firstly, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your aunt.
Although I don't know the lady mentioned in this newspaper story personally, she does live in my community and you might note that she is still driving at the age of 105.

Being a nurse, I've met several very old people (in their hundreds) who were alert and oriented. I've also met a lot of younger people who weren't, or were just nuttier then a fruit cake.

Bless her heart. Some would consider me "real old" but I'm not anywhere near her age. I hope you inherited her good genes!
