Just wondering what is closer to the Earth's Core the Equator or the poles?

Ok thanks this is the first time I've used this. I realized that the Earth wasn't a perfect sphere which is what got me thinking about this. Someone was saying to me that it'd be the Equator because the equator is warmer which is irrelevant because the Sun heats the Earth or so I think. So thats my second question does the Earths Core and surrounding heat the Earth in anyway, if the sun were to cease to exist would things die faster on the Poles then the Equator or would everything be the same? Thanks and sorry for any grammar mistakes I typed this fast with no check.

Neither, they are both the same distance away.

The earth is a sphere, and the core is the center of the sphere. Any point on the sphere is the same distance from the center, as any other point on the sphere. That's just by the basic definition of what a sphere is.

So, therefore, looking at the earth and its core, it's clear to see that the distance from the core to the equator is the same as the distance from the core to the north pole or the south pole, or any other spot on earth!

Of course, if you want to get super picky you can say that the distance from the core to Death Valley, California, which is below sea level, is shorter than the distance from the core to the top of Mt. Fuji or Mt. Shasta or any other mountain.

But, I think that's beside the main point of your question. And I hope my explanation using a sphere made sense and helped you with this question.

While he was right that the poles are closer, it's not for the reason he gave.

The earth is not a perfect sphere. it's shaped more like an mandarin orange. This is because of the centrifugal force of the earths rotation. If you look at an orange, you will see why the poles are closer than the equator.
