Start with free writing. Just write whatever comes into your head. Do this for a few minutes and a story idea should come to you. Write something that you would enjoy reading. If you like sci fi then write a sci fi story.

Look around, there is something to write about, that is realistic. Just open your eyes and look out at the world.

Just use the old movie story line
boy meets girl
boy loses girl
boy gets her back
They ride off into the sunset.
You can fill in the blanks

this looks like the perfect beginning to the story now develop a character and go with it have fun make it realistic and outrageous

write about a teacher that u like or dislike and why.
like what u would like to become and the reason behind this
or write about some one u have been observing and wish to talk to,
or write about ur parents/ siblings relationship with u and does it have an impact and how

I used to take lyrics of songs that tell a story, and modify them or at least use them as an idea

This assignment gives you the freedom to write about almost anything. If you can't do that, you should be in special ed.
