It is very insightful - it talks about poverty-stricken England and the people who are suffering from it. Oliver is like the medium in which Charles Dickens uses to reveal a world that is very cruel and blunt.

And of course, who can't remember the famous line: "please sir, i want some more?" It reminded of how lucky I am to have second helpings for each daily meal.

It is great novel dealing with the low-middle class at that time. It portrays the suffering of the poor people, so it goes deep in the human experience.

Never read it. I could never read anything by Charles Dickens. His subject matter never appealed to me. Honestly, I've tried but could never do it.

Thank cod none of my high school English classes ever assigned a Dickens book for us to read. If you have to read one, you have my deepest sympathies!

I was in the play and saw the movie but that was years ago and I don't remember that I got much out of it at all.
