Americans are so nieve because we are the most manipulated people on this planet. First we have government sponsored education which promotes competition rather than cooperation. This fear based attitude of lack makes us more war-like and less loving. We are not taught the Constitution of the u.S. therefore we know little to nothing about our inalienable God given rights, that gold/silver backed currency is our financial strength, and standing armed forces have term limits. Flawed science and history are two other areas which need updated.

As we move into our later teens and beyond, we are bombarded with censored media: newscasts, magazines, newspapers, radio programs, and movies. Flawed science and history continue to be promoted here; R&D is controlled by those donating the monies, thus the results are predictable; history dissentors are mocked and/or jailed regardless of their due diligence.

By the time we reach our thirties, we are pretty much automatons, unable to think or question. My suggestion is therefore to seek truth from any and all sources. Be still and go within to find answers. On the outside, the internet is less controlled than most. Fourwinds10.com offers information on a wide range of subjects with strong web links. Agreed we're so use to short in & out engagements like Grenada or Panama where the bad guys where a "uniform" & fight along some sort of code. Sadly as you said not every battle or war can be won over night, fought with clear reason behind it. Not everything is cut & dry or black & white especially these days & it's sad that we fail to understand this. Lifes not fair & if we didn't fight in Afganistan or Iraq & 5 10 15 years later we were attacked again just like many do regarding Carter or Clinton we all would be asked why Bush didn't do something sooner. Pluoto said it best "only the dead have seen the end of war". Politics, religion, & region aside this conflict & the Iraq civil war have deep roots that go back long before bush or even Isreal. US plan & intell was just poor because Clinton tied the hands of the CIA & military during his reign. As is the case the next guy always pays for it.

becasue they are (many anyway and increasing) getting lower and lower education ,watch TV for almost all information and entertainment. The average person can't read a detailed article about political or worls affairs becasue of getting too bored with it or not having the background onfo to understand it. The educational system for a long time has focused on US history and world history always interpreted from a US favorable point of view. People know very few foreign languages and think its a waste of time tolearn. They think other cultures are "dumb" or "backward" and judge all others by their standard. Very few travel unless through military and then they are in a protected area away from local culture as much as possible unless to visit prostitutes or buy the local wares that are cheap there. OK, many others are smart and interested active people but its just going downhill so fast. I hope it doesn'tcontinue this way but I fear for my country being defrauded of our future. Perhaps what you say sounds a bit extreme, but whats happenning now in the mainstream news is extreme.The right of habeus corpus is being denied-that's what we built this country on! Secrecy is the norm. Our president decided whichh lawshe will obey by making signing statements These are all radical changes to our govt not in sync w our constitution, which isnt perfect, but was a good basis to start with.We're going backwards, we're in denial becasue its not pleasant to admit it.
