spice trade in asia?

i need to make a chart to compare the methods the portuguese and dutch used to control the spice trade in asia.

can anybody help? because i left my history book in school

they were tring 2 find an all water route 2 asia.
the portugese was closer 2 the atlantic ocean so they went down and around africa 2 the spice islands
the dutch had more water 2 cross so portugese was n the lead:-)
