all of the above, plus I think kids are getting desensitized to violence from TV, Movies, Music, Video Games, etc

Having some religion in their lives would be a tremendous help and give people meaning and purpose to their lives

The world has lost respect. Many young people do not have any respect for themselves or anyone else. So with the absence of respect, they have no feelings. Many of these young people missed out on, what many of us had growing up, that was strong family values. We were raised to respect our elders. That's not the case these days, young kids will walk right pass an older person while cussing, never skipping a beat and don't even care. We wouldn't have dared do that.
It all boils down to the loss of respect. But that starts at home. Teach kids in the way they should go and they will never depart from it.

We are breading the conscience out of our children. We (as a society) have taught them that there is no responsibility for personal actions. It is never your fault. It was a substance abuse or a life trauma that caused the action. There is also no sure penalty for personal actions. Kill you kids and instead of going to jail we send them to a hospital and say they will be better. Give me a break.

We have also trivialized life.

Children are quick learners and they watch what goes on around them and then they choose the easiest way to deal with it. Don't like what someone does to you, just kill them. No one will do anything to you.

The only hope is for parents to work hard at raising the children and instill values.

I think the number one influence of minors who commit murders is their parents or lack of parenting. Teaching children to suppress their anger, kids hanging with other bad kids, using drugs along with going through puberty can make kids violent. Also, with the way violence is glorified in music and movies, kids might feel like a hero or icon if they can get their picture in the paper.

I believe a lot of there was something going on deeply within herself. She might have been jealous of her friend, and it got out of hand to a point that she couldn't control it.

I also believe that young people who commits these crimes are from broken homes where there was no love shown or rescepted.
