It starts There was a barefoot boy walking down the street. His hands were full of pockets, his shoes were full of feet.

I believe it's called the No Nonsense song, but I can't find it anywhere. I'll give $20 to anyone who can get me a full copy.

Treasury of Nonsense Medley: The Barefoot Boy/The Hefalump/Famous Victor..........The New Christy Minstrels

The New Christy Minstrels - Tall Tales! Legends and Nonsense CD

The Barefoot Boy

(Female 1 solo)
Oh...
A barefoot boy with shoes on came walking down the street.
His hands were full of pockets and his shoes were full of feet.
(Female 2 solo)
He was an only child, you know: his mother's pride and joy.
His only sister was a girl.
(Male 1 solo)
His brother was a boy.

(Chorus)
He was married to a woman who soon became his wife.
She weighed four-hundred sixty, but she gave all her life.
They had a hundred children, and I knew them all quite well.
(Female 2 solo)
The girls all went to heaven,
(Male 1 solo)
and the boys all went… out west.

(Male 2 solo)
I went along to Hamelock in the land of Wildesmere,
And if you do not know the place I'll tell you where it's near.
It's not too close to Friegelstown and farther still from Glaff,
But you'll know you're near to Wildesmere when you hear the heffalump laugh.

(Chorus)
Oh...
The heffalump is fourteen feet with many an ear to hear,
and though he has but three of them he rightly cannot hear.
His nose is green; his eye is red; his tail is turquoise blue.
(Male 2 solo)
And may I be a bingle if my story isn't true.

(Male 1 solo)
Oh...
My father had a Jersey bull that broke my temperance pledge.
I took two horns against my will. He sent me o'er the hedge.
He chased me and I ran all the way to Washington.
That's how I got my pension for the battle of "Bull Run".

(Chorus)
Ha, ha!

(Male 3 solo)
While looking through the knothole in grandpa's wooden leg,
(Male 1 solo)
Why do they build the shore so near the ocean?
(Chorus)
A snake's belt slips because he has no hips.
And a boy's best friend is his mother.

Street? No problem! As long as I could temporarily walk on sidewalk when the asphalt got too hot, I have walked a mile barefoot from my home to the nearest bus stop. Still needed to carry flip flops in a carrying bag. I also did periodic 10+ minute walks on mostly blacktop asphalt around the housing are, sometimes stopping to get more heat on the soles, only walking through shade most of the time when I needed shade and only stopping for a short moment to stand in shade when walking through it didn't immediately stop too much burning, until the maintenance staff started giving me odd looks about it (and even saying in Spanish sin zapatos). Both were done as close to the hottest afternoon hours as possible. However, the hottest I was able to do was 95 degrees F because the weather so far didn't get any hotter.
