Especially if it is somebody else's steak. "What happened to my steak?....It was repossessed."

Everytime! I even warn the server before hand that I will send the steak back if it isn't right. I tell them to let the kitchen know that I like it just barely cooked on both sides...literally 20 seconds a side....It almost always comes to my table medium...
I never get mad at the server, or even the kitchen but I do want my steak cooked correctly.
I was a server for 8 years so I know those cooks can make a yummy steak!

Just think of it this way. The steak was not a gift to you. You paid for it. Assuming you told the server how you wanted it done, you should send it back.

I only send them back if they are bloody or burnt to a crisp. Im not all that picky and try not to complain because I worked in a restuarant and there are plenty of jerks out there who would gripe about the food I served when there was nothing wrong with it so that they could get a free meal. It was really frustrating, I try to be nice because I know the crap that they have to deal with.

A good steak is not cheap. If I send that much money I expect it to be right. If it is not, then I will send it back.

Definitely send it back. Try to be more specific and know what you're ordering, too. Medium will have a WARM pink center, not hot.

Sometimes, even though I am afraid the cook will spit on it! I always order mine well done because I refuse to eat something that is still bleeding.
