There is really no way to avoid it. It just affects some people that way. You could ask your doctor for a prescription for phenegran. It is an anti nausea pill that they will prescribe for people to take while taking pain medication.

Take them with food. If it gets too bad you can ask the prescribing doctor for an anti-nausea med such as Zofran or Phenegren. If you are having trouble keeping pills down a suppository may work better. Just becareful to not take too many of the pain meds. I have seen many cases where a patient throws up her meds and then takes another dose thinking they didn't stay down!!!

Some people cannot tolerate Percocet, the most common side effect being nausea. Call your prescribing MD, an alternative pain med may be better for you.

First you can try to eat when you take them. Second you can call your doctor and ask for some anti nausea meds like compazine or phenergan. Third there is an over the counter med that may help, it is called ematrol and it is basically flat coca cola.

From my experience I would always eat little something before taking the medicine. and if I forgot and got a nausea feeling I would drink some milk. Its like the milk coats your stomach and reverse the nauseous feeling. Milk acts like an anecdote for the medicine. Always check the prescription bottle it should have a warning on the label if you should eat before taking the medicine or to take it on a empty stomach..

Try taking half the dosage at first, and lie down after 20mins after taking it. Food does work better. Some of those narcotics have codeine and stuff in them. You could be allergic to one of the agents inside.

If that doesn't work, you need to ask for a different pain reliever.

When I had to take them, I would drink milk or eat yogurt first and usually this helped.
Also, I think you can take gravol with it, but you would want to call a pharmacist first to make sure. I don't know your exact situation or if you are on any other medications, but if you can take gravol this would be your best bet.

Eat a little something first. It still may not work.
Nausea and vomiting are normal side effects.
(Percocet is oxycodone and acetominphen)

If you need to take them, and if you eat while taking them then they wont be as affective, call your doctor and see about gettin some pills to ease nausea.

Switch to a different pain killer! Tell your doctor the problem, you are having an allergic reaction. Definitely change your meds! Good luck.
