Rumors are anything said or written about a person or group of people that may or may not be true. Most rumors are lies spread by people who dislike the subject of the rumor. Some rumors can be true, but not public knowledge like how many books will be in the Harry Potter series. We know now, but there were alot of rumors stating different answers. As a general rule, rumors are considered poor class to be started and you shouldn't be a part of the rumor scene. Hope this helps.

Boredom. Human nature as well. Someone has a grudge or is petty. So they try to spice up their life. Look at how we treat stars. All those stories about their personal lives. Those most of the time are rumors.

Rumors are stories told by someone that might want to change the thinking of others to their own advantage. For example: A government might spread untrue rumors about a situation to accomplish their own political goals.
