I would like to hang wind chimes and lanterns on my ceiling, but I wouldn't want to install anything permanent into the ceiling; so what kind of hook could I use that would be able to transfer at a later time, that would also leave no permanent markings or holes in the ceiling? I would also like not having to add plaster on at a later time.

You have a choice ... either use a hook that penetrates the ceiling into a joist above (and have to fill with hole filler when you leave), or risk the weight of whatever you hang pulling the paint (and possibly some of the drywall surface) down and having to fix that bigger mess. The latter is also likely if you use adhesive and you try to remove later ... even if it doesn't fall down.

Personally, I'd use a screw hook into the joist (tap slowly across the ceiling with the end of a screwdriver or the handle of a hammer to find the point where the sound is dullest ... that the location of the joist) and when you leave unscrew it and patch with a small tube of premixed white hole filler available for a couple of dollars at the hardware store. Noone will notice unless they look VERY carefully.
