Yes. We go every year.
The Imperial Sand Dunes encompasses the entire dune structure - including areas which are off limits to OHV's.
Because they're so large, and there are a bunch of different camping areas, the different sections have been named:
Glamis is the most popular area, and the one that gets the huge numbers on holiday weekends. It is the easiest to access, since the dunes come right up to the edge of Highway 78. It's also home of the Glamis Beach Store.
Buttercup and Gordons Well are two other staging areas that have access to other sections of the Imperial Dunes.
Even with the decreased land and increased closures in the last 10 years, it's still a great place to ride, and offers all sorts of different riding opportunities.
