Check with a bird-feeding store in your area such as Wild Birds Unlimited; they will know when hummingbirds are in your area. Be patient when you put out a feeder - it may take them a few days to find it; chance the nectar every day, whether you think they're feeding or not. Don't bother with commercial nectar; a formula of 1 part sugar to 3 parts water, brought to a boil, is much better for them. DON'T use honey - this promotes growth of a potentially deadly fungus on the birds' tongues. Enjoy!

The best time to attract hummingbirds is in the early spring and throughout the summer, April until July. Also try putting the kind of flowers in your garden that hummingbirds like, such as lilac, honeysuckle, foxglove, and delphinium.
