i think tina turner was going for a rock chick type thing from the 1980s too
bonnie tyler (had a number 1 for ages in the uk with total eclipse of the heart) her voice is as heavy metal as ac/dc!!

joan jett and lita ford were both in "the runaways" Vixen was an all female band. Heart had two women and there names are ann and nancy wilson. The Bangles, Wendy o Willams, L7, the go-gos, melissa etheridge, the indigo girls, edie brickell, and i'm sure i'm leaving a bunch out. Oh yeah, Jenifer Batten played guitar in Michael Jackson's band. She could play circles around most guitarists of the tme.
