I've had it for only 3 months and usually it does beautifully, but an hour ago it froze. Just froze. The clock doesn't update, I can't move the cursor, the entire operating system (Mac OSX Tiger) froze. The screen hasn't even dimmed in the whole hour I've just let it sit. I've already tried all the keyboard commands for a forced shut-down and restart and all that jazz with no luck.
I was browsing the internet when it shut down, just normal stuff, nothing requiring any work on its behalf. Right now the only thing I can think of doing is waiting a couple hours for the battery to die.
How can I fix it?

ok, first CMD-OPT-ESC did force quit open?
second.. move mouse on trackpad, did it move onscreen?
Either of these occur, it's not frozen, just an app/service problem. I suspect in your case neither work. The same info applies on a PC running Windows or Linux or whatever.
Next..
Hold down Power Button for five clinical seconds, Any Mac or PC will then shut off. Let it sit for an hour or two in case it's overheated, overnight if you wish.
Hard drive still spinning means that the power manager and the hard drive work, that's a good thing. probably means the system board is ok too. Processor and/or RAM.. that's another story.
If it won't turn back on, likely overheated, needs service, carry it in or call Applecare Support they have some really nice MacBook people in both Austin and Sacramento call centers, I used to work in Austin for them, those were the days.
If it will turn back on, Run Apple Hardware Test on a memory loop. AppleCare can tell you how if you don't find the documentation on the discs that came with your MacBook.
This should let you know if there's a hardware problem at fault.
If the issue doesn't duplicate or isn't found by AppleHardware Test, it may have only been a software conflict or crash. Rare but possible.
I wish you all the best.

No thats a first..Maybe you should try to shut it down. I suggest you let the battery die down and start the computer up. I would say to lift the macbook and tilt it slightley so that the air can come through to cool it down. It is possible that it is over heated and will not function.
And stop BSing Macs, Windows have far more problems with them. Glitchy, buggy, virus infested, horrible interface. Graphics are rubblsh, way too complicated to EVEN bother to use, ugly cases, they freeze too y'know. Okay?
Windows suck...

some people have had to hard reset (press the reset/power button) to unfreeze there MacBook... it appears that OSX Tiger uses alot of RAM to run due to the graphics cards inside.... just make sure not to run too many things at once to avoid this in the future... good luck...

It sounds like a RAM issue. just turn it off and turn it back on. If it does it again get it checked out.
Now to move on. I am really tired of you PC people talking crap about Macs. Oh wow one mac problem out of millions of PC problems. Come on guys I know you are jealous of how much better MacOS is to your Windoze so just lay off it. You don't see me going into other Windows based questions and talk crap. Oh yeah, I guess I just can't go down to your level. Anyway, sorry about the rant but its really starting to make me mad.

Try taking it into the Genius Bar at The Apple Store. If there isn't a store near you you can always call them and talk to a support person at 1 800 MY APPLE.

What about all those commercials where the 22 yr old pretty boy acts like a mac "oh I'm just the perfect computer" and the fat guy plays the pc "oh I'm just the suckiest computer" and the mac never has any problems and the pc freezes, crashed, etc? Mac's have them problems too, huh. They LIE! I see now. They LIE! Evil Apple!
