This guy was a big leader in the KKK. You can't get more racist than that. So, why don't they denounce him? Why the hypocracy?

well... first off... it's Byrd...

and he was a relatively low level leader for about a year in the 40S... as in 1940S...

and he's said about a BILLION TIMES that it's the greatest mistake of his life... and he wishes he never did it...

but still, many don't like him in the democrat party... but he wins elections in his state... WEST VIRGINIA... and that's democracy...

your question is like asking "why so Republicans stand behind Bush, who was an alcoholic and drug abuser?"... do you support alcoholism and drug abuse?

if you don't support alcoholism and drug abuse... why the hypocracy?

can a man change? if you don't think so... then you need a new president... and West Virginia needs a new senator...

He's elected in a state that is 97% white: WV

He won 78% of the vote over a Republican in 2000.

Uncle Bobby was born in NC (not WV!) and is a Baptist.

I'm not sure what I'm trying to say, but he does indeed seem to be a Democrat.

Best wishes,

pup

I don't know, what state is he from? I don't think it's fair to say that Democrats stand behind him since he's elected by his state (Dems and Reps). If they want to send a scum bag like that to Washington to represent them there's not much Dems can do about that.

He's part of the enlightened bunch. You can't be racist if you're a Democrat, or that's how the media thinks at least.

So they can keep an eye on him. If they stood in front of him, he might burn a cross on their lawns or something.

NEVER stand in front of any politician... It's dangerous, and you never want to drop your keys, either. :)
