Planning to install a hot tub. I have done this before but always burried the conduit. Due to location of existing utilitys this would be very hard. Seems easier to just come across side of house and under deck. The location is such that physical damage and sunlight should be minimal. What do you guys think? Also anyone know what the electrical code says about this?
Planning on using 6awg in 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 sunlight resistant pvc grey conduit.
Thank you in advance for your input.

Yes to GFCI.
Code requires a shut off more than 5 feet but less than 15 feet from the hot tub. I had planned to go with a "package deal" from Lowe's or Home Depot that has the box and 50A GFCI breaker.

My husband is an electrician, and he just looked into the most recent code book for the answer to this. He said that he couldn't find anything that said this wouldn't be okay. He said to be safe, go to www.neccode.com and ask about your jurisdiction, just to make sure.

Good luck and enjoy your hot tub!

6 gauge??? for what, a 1000 foot run. I guess it wont hurt anything to go large but codes differ from state to state on the conduit. I would have no problem with it just as long as it wont be getting ran over.

It's up to code in most states. There is flex PVC conduit with rain-tite fittings that may make it easier still. Nema-3 rain-tite control boxes are required as you know.
