You are in serious danger of foundering your mini. Miniatures should not be on such a high protein diet. I would highly recommend you change the alfalfa to an orchard or timothy mix. Then I would suggest that you use an Equine Senior as this has one of the lowest protein contents of any feed. If you do not wish to change from the Strategy; then lower the amount that is being fed by at least 1/4. As for losing weight quickly; lunge at a brisk trot 3 times a day for 10-15 minutes each time. If your mini shows signs of excessive fatigue or muscle soreness then drop to 2 times a day for 4-5 days. Do not seriously decrease food intake at this time. In fact you may want to feed Strategy- 1/2 cup 3xday and alfalfa or preferably an alfalfa mix- 1/4 flake 3xday.

Well, starting a good exercise program would be a great idea. However, I have to tell you there is no safe way to get this little horse to lose a large amount of weight in 2 weeks. Lots of exercise and say like 3/4 cup feed instead of a full cup each time you feed.
Also, focus on conditioning his mane, tail, coat and hoofs. Make these things stand out removing as much attention from his belly as possible.
Good Luck and Take Care
P.S. Petmeds.com is a web site you can order Advantage from, but please make sure you are applying it properly.

If you want to get weight off of your horse all you need to do is a lot of trotting exercises and keep them interesting so he doesn't get board that Way you will be able to bond with him and he will shed a few extra pounds! Also don't stop feeding him as much as you do know that could result in problems down the road to change his diet (ex. food he eats, quantity exc.) also if you have a full body slinky work him in that and it will help him sweat the pounds away. Good luck at your show!

Hi ,
If you put him in a yard with minimal grass and feed him 2 small feeds a day and lunge him lightly every day , That should get rid of the grass belly and give a nice tucked up fit look.
Good luck at your show!

Just cut back on his food by a little bit. Exercise him alittle bit more often, but not to the point where he doesn't want to do anything. Goodluck at your show!
