The proper way to set up an aquarium is to set the water first and to chemically balance it.. before putting fish in it... Talk to a pet store person (preferably a store that sells only fish but the people at Petco pretty much know their stuff) about the proper way to balance the water... Gravel can be added later... Just wash the gravel before putting it in the tank to remove dust and impurities.. It can take up to 2 weeks or more to properly balance the water before you add fish.... Better to spend the time than to have fish that only last a few days...

sure just make sure the gravels are clean and be careful not to harm the fish. Adding gravels after set up is fine too much "outside activity" in the tank can cause fish to get stressed and get sick so take it easy. IF you rinse your gravels "DO NOT" use tap water unless you let them air dry a few days before puting them in the tank. Chemicals from the tap water like chlorine will stick to the gravels and enter the tank, it may not be enough to cause problems, but it could also poison your fish. It is best to use boiled water, tank water, or bottled water.

Of course you can add gravel to the tank after the fact. As mentioned rinse the gravel thoroughly and then carefully pour it in and spread it around. Since aquarium gravel is neutral it won't affect the water in any way, and it would be less stressful to the fish (and easier for you) if you simply put in the gravel without removing the fish.

Yes! 1. Make sure you wash the gravel a little at a time under running water in a strainer.
2. With the stones in the strainer, gently slide the strainer down along side the side of the glass. At the bottom carefully empty them out.
3. You do it this way so as not to scare or traumatize the fish.
4. Continue till you have the amount of stone coverage you want.
On cleaning the tank/stones. You need to gently move them around so that the trash rises and floats then collect it with a fish net and dump it into a container with water.

Or you can use a square net or metal screen and scoop up the stones, dump them in the 5 gal bucket to wash as you did at first.

You need to do this periodically otherwise the Poop will settle then build up and cloud the water and in time make the fish sick.

Yup, that's in fact each little thing you prefer! in basic terms get a Zebra Danio in there to get your aquarium cycled. do not pay attention to people whilst they confuse you with regard to the nitrogen cycle, thats all you ought to purchase, notably the petsmart workers will attempt and get you to purchase those complicated ingredients and chemical ingredients. do not pay attention to them, say "Oh i've got already got those at homestead" and that they are going to bypass away you on my own. After your tank his been working with the water, clear out, gravel, conditioner, and zebra danio in there, and has been working for a week, take a water pattern on your puppy shop and that they are going to do a unfastened water try. in the event that they permit you comprehend your water is risk-free you may upload your fish. If not, wait yet another week, and that's going to be risk-free. additionally upload 2-3 fish at a time each 3 days. So first you will upload the two guppies, then in 3 days upload a guppy and 2 snails. additionally it takes a on an identical time as for algae to construct up on your tank, so which you may desire to the two evaluate upload the snails till you get algae on your tank or purchase some algae wafers to your snails. by way of fact they gained't have something to feed on.
