Look dear, the basic purpose it seems of the politicians is not the empowerment or upliftment at all!!! what they are interested in is actually vote bank politics. That the electorate will vote along caste lines and they'll win more votes from SC/ST?OBCs. The amount of money, probably 12000 crore or something which is required to make up additional infrastructure for reservations in education; if this money is put into primary education, then no one will need reservations anyways. Also, if after 59 years, if v are not able to provide upliftment of the SC/ST/OBCs by pursuing a policy, thn it's time to change the policy, not to extend it. What can be done for genuine upliftment is to provide reservation along economic lines. This way people who genuinely need it will benefit. also, one household should be given reservation only once,. thus making it clear that if you're disadvantaged, we're giving u a chance to come up and join the mainstream, so use the opportunity wisely and work hard. Also, ample scholarships should be provided so that people from these weak economic backgrounds can complete studies without economic obstacles. Providing reservations, whether in educations or jobs, along caste lines, and to sub-standard merit, will not only be harmful for the education, but may also lead to social problems in the long run
