My dad is 71, is going to get married to a 62 year old lady in a few weeks. He has plenty of money. If he is happily married and lives for another 20-30 years, I will be very happy for him.

But if he dies in 2-5 years, this lady is going to walk away with lot of money. I do not think that I am selfish. But I spend over 40 years of quality time with him, and I would get nothing. He does not have a will.

Asking him to prepare a will and also to put my name in there, would be a humiliating situation for me and for him. How do I handle this issue?

Just ask him. I'm sure he will do the right thing by both you and his new wife.

HAVE HIM DO A WILL, AND PUT ALL OF HIS ASSETS IN TRUST, YOU BE THE TRUSTEE. THIS WAY IF HE PASSES ON (God forbid), IT WILL AVOID PROBATE COURT , WHICH IS VERY DELAYING AND COSTLY. AFTER ALL YOU, NOT HIS NEW LOVE GET ALL THE ASSETS THAT HE ACCUMULATED OVER THE YEARS. YOU ARE HIS BLOOD, NOT HIS NEW LADY. GOOD LUCK TO YOU.
ALSO HAVE YOUR DAD DO PRE-NUPTIAL AGREEMENT- WHICH MEANS THAT WHAT HE HAD (ASSETS) BEFORE HE MARRIED THIS LADY, IS HIS, HE CAN DISPOSE OF THESE ASSETS ANY WAY HE WANTS TO.(PASS IT ON TO HIS FAMILY, YOU) ANY ACCUMULATED WEALTH AFTER MARRYING THIS LADY IS THEIR SHARED PROPERTY.

Ask him if he's going to get a pre-nup and the conversation can go from there.
