I'm a mom of a boy who is turning 18 in a few days and feeling....lonely. He is a delayed entry marine til graduation in June. I've always been part of his life and vise-versa.... We are blessed to live with my fiance who has raised him since 6 yrs. old...I love them both sooo much! Just looking for friends.... Thanks!

Well some sites charge a fee to chat but I think yahoo has a free chat room. I am also feeling the empty nest syndrome. I use to tell my sons(20 and 16) I will be glad when they get older and move out. The first year my oldest son went to college I called him so much. He came home on the weekends and sometimes brought friends. I would be so happy cooking for his friends while they washed clothes. I also have a fiance but its not the same. I am a single parent so my sons consumed much of my free time as well. I read a lot and answer questions on Yahoo when I am bored and lonely. What state are you in. I guess we are around the same age. I am in NC..

I have a friend who went into the Marines, I commend your son for going. You must be so very proud of him.

Yes its going to be lonely but while he is in Basics he can write you letters and you can also send him letters as well, it should make the time go by a bit easier.

I know how you feel sort of. I have a BF who travels alot for work currently he is away for 6 weeks.
If you want to talk more let me know and I will give you my email address or my yahoo ID for messenger.

My advice - turn off the computer and join some clubs. Book club at Garns and Nobel. Gardening club at the local nursey. Anything. But turn off the box. It's really that healthy. Chatting with people online is like bringing MacDonalds home, eating in front of the TV and consdering it a night out.
