1. When I put the car in reverse, the car shakes noticeably. When I put it back in drive or park, it takes like 1-1 1/2 seconds to get there and jolts.
2. Usually when I used to drive my car, the steering was nice and easy. Now it's alot harder to turn the steering wheel and it's very annoying when I'm trying to just joy ride to my next stop.
3. When I stop or slow down with my brakes, my car stalls a bit when I press down on the gas before actually accelerating. Maybe about a 1-2 second stall.

Thanks for your help and please identify which problem you are addressing.

your biggest problem is problem one. the other two sound like a regular tune-up could fix.

problem one is your transmission. it is going bad.

it will be very expensive. start considering either getting it fixed (around $1500-2000) or just buying a new car if it's not worth fixing it on that one.

Well
1 - is either low on transmission fluid, a bad front pump, or a bad U-joint ** so check your transmission fluid level, then if it makes a loud click sound as it goes into gear it is probab;u a u-joint about to break, the front pump can be checked by a transmission shop for free if the other two are good, get a free check and leave, don't get ripped of on a major repair

2 - is either low power steering fluid, a bad belt going to the power steering pump, or a power steering pump that needs replacing, can also check for bad ball joimts or steering links if the previous is stoill good.

3 is nothing that a good cheap tune up won't fix, may be just needing spark plugs and filters (air and Gas ) could be the timing off a little.

Sounds over all like your car just needs a little attention, but is still mostly solid

ok heres the deal with a saab. dependable? yes more so than your average car. it is comparable to a BMW in reliability. however, this car requires lots of maintenance and the maintenance on a saab is expensive. they require special fluids for everything even coolant. its like 50 bucks a bottle. and if anything did break on it repair cost are very high on saabs. doesn't matter what you take it in the shop for a will give you a 1,300 dollar minimum for any repair o that car. same as a BMW or a BENZ. so reliability is a mute point because when it dose break all that cost you saved in little repairs here and there goes out the window because of the amount you will pay for that single repair when it happens. all cars break its an inevitability. so is a saab more dependable? yes. will it save you money? not at all. and i would assume saving money is your main concern by what you asked. this car will last longer before repairs are needed and will last a long time. but the amount of money you will spend in the upkeep on a saab will cost more than the repairs you do on a cheap car. i just traded my bmw 3 series for an old ragity jeep. the bmw only needed a clutch but that clutch in parts alone was over 2 grand. labor cost was about 3 grand. well guess what. i can replace the entire engine in this old jeep i traded it for for about 1,400 bucks. so just because a car breaks down less often. dose not mean it wont cost you a ton of money. you are better off getting a cheap used car that has a good reputation and cheap repair cost. check the msn reliability reports. they usually have very good info.

Question #1) Vacuum leak somewhere definitley.
Question #2) Check fluid level and drive belt tightness. If these are ok your power steering pump may be going bad.
Question #3) You need to check you vacuum system, problem #1 and #3 are definitley related.

Well #1 is probably your transmission is slipping. Try checking your transmission fluid to rule out simple low fluid. #2 is probably your power steering fluid check it to see if it's low.#3 could be alot of things. It could be fuel filter needs changed, or you have a leak in your air hose. Sounds like you just need a good tune up and you'll be setting pretty.

The car shaking in reverse may be a bad torque converter.
Second problem, check your power steering fluid. Is it low? Does it have a burn smell to it? Is the drive belt on or loose or missing? See any leaks on your rack and pinion?
3rd problem may be the torque converter in the trans again. Or the trans itself is slipping, giving you a no power feel.
good luck
it may help if you identified what car you own
