Well, it's been a while, but I seem to be remember being nervous as all hell around girls at that time.
First. He wants to hold your hand. You're a female. He's a teenage boy. He wants to hold your hand.
Two. He's totally nervous. You're a female. He's a teenage boy. Totally nervous.
Third. There is a code of ethics among men, teenage boys, college guys, old farts, grandpas - all men - that we must appear confident and in control in all situations. It's dumber than dirt but it's our natural instincts. There was no way on God's Green Earth he was going to let you know he was nervous, or even that he wanted to hold your hand. He was SUPPOSED to grab your hand, hold it, grab you, kiss you passionately, etc etc. and because he couldn't live up to (his own self imposed) expectations, he sat their like a lump. That's what I think.
The thing about 13 that sucks is that you have no idea what you're doing. What's so incredibly wonderful is that it's all so new. It will never be new again, not like this - it will never feel quite the same again. So here's my advice:
Next time, when it's chilly, just put your hand in his and snuggle up to him. It's instinctual - he'll hold you closer. Then just enjoy the moment when you both realize you both want to get closer - savor it, because that's what makes life wonderful.

If he gave you his jacket then he -would- like to be holding you. Some guys (like me) would be too afraid to go to touch without knowing if you would like it or not. Just giving you his jacket probably got him really nervous. Just startoff by grabbing his hand and lace your fingers together when you're sitting down or walking in a somewhat private area or when others arn't interacting with you or him.

It sounds like nerves you both are still quit young and have a lot of learning to do about the other sex. If you still feel ready to hold hands then maybe try grabbing his hand and showing him it's ok. Sometimes you need to make that first step. Lord knows my husband would never had kissed me if I hadn't grabbed his ears and kissed him first. Sometimes guys and girls need a little nudge.
Have fun darlin and enjoy the time

At the age or thirteen you shouldn't have a boyfriend you should be focused on your schoolwork. If you hands were that cold you would have stuck them in you pocket and not leaving them out in the cold half way covered with another hand.Stay young while you can.

Just grab his hand! It's not like he's gonna pull away, chances are he's just really shy. If he likes you, he'll let you hold his hand.
