So, the UN has stomped its feet, and told North Korea not to be a bad kid anymore: much sound and fury, signifying....not a heck of a lot.

And just how "punishing" are those "punishing sanctions" expected to be??

Bush and thugs have failed America and the world yet again!!!

Axis of evil comment has just gone up in puff of smoke.

Iraq in a **** storm. North Korea has nukes, threatens neighbours.
World stops fav wine going to korea. Well done!

I GUESS THE TRUTH IS THAT NORTH KOREA TO FAR FROM ISRAEL RIGHT AND SEEN AS INSIGNIFICANT??? :)

Good points. North Korea has proven that where there's no oil, there's no war. Call 'em evil and that's it. Of course, living in Japan, I wouldn't really want to see a full scale war, because those nukes are almost certainly aimed here, but something more effective has to be done. Unfortunately, I don't have the answer. Maybe when Kim Long Il dies, things will change??

Bush has gotten us into a load of crap. Going to war in Iraq was the worst thing that could have been done. What happens if we have to go to war with N Korea? Then we'll be fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan and N Korea. Bravo Bush. Anyone ready for the draft to be reinstated?

The North Korea thing is another red herring to distract you from how evil the US administration is.
Any sanctions against North Korea will only hurt the poor starving people. Is that what you want?
Korea has a right to arm itself and defend itself agains the perceived threat from the ever belligerent USA. Look what happened to Iraq because it couldn't defend itself.

December 20, 2000: Counter-terrorism expert Richard Clarke submits a plan to "roll back" al-Qaeda in response to the USS Cole bombing. The main component is a dramatic increase in covert action in Afghanistan to "eliminate the sanctuary" for bin Laden there. However, since there are only a few weeks left before the Bush administration takes over, it is decided to defer the decision to the new administration. One month later, the plan is rejected and no action is taken. Russia's President Putin later claims he "tried to egg on the previous Clinton administration” - without success - to act militarily against the whole Taliban regime: “Washington's reaction at the time really amazed me. They shrugged their shoulders and said matter-of-factly: ‘We can't do anything because the Taliban does not want to turn him over.’" [Guardian, 9/22/01]

2000 – 2001: The military conducts exercises simulating what the White House says was unimaginable at the time: hijacked airliners used as weapons to crash into targets and cause mass casualties. One imagined target is the World Trade Center. [USA Today, 4/19/04]

2001: At some point during the year, Julie Sirrs, a Defense Intelligence Agency agent, travels twice to Afghanistan. She claims DIA officials knew in advance about both trips. Sirrs sees a terrorist training center, and meets with Northern Alliance leader Ahmad Massoud, who is later assassinated by the Taliban on September 9. On her second trip, she returns with what she later claims is a treasure trove of information, including evidence that bin Laden is planning to assassinate Massoud. However, upon returning, a security officer meets her flight and confiscates her material. The DIA and the FBI investigate her. She says no higher-ups want to hear what she had learned in Afghanistan. Ultimately, Sirrs' security clearance is pulled and she resigned. She eventually quits the DIA in frustration. well if you want something done in North Korea join a underground militia to fight them. If I had a son or daughter I would not want them to die there. Its good enough to be Monday morning quarterback because your not the way who will die. Haven't enough Americans died for Bush's lies in Iraq
