Anyone have any idea what's wrong with my car?
While sitting, it shakes like crazy for quite a while and then revs up a little, stops for a brief moment, and goes back to shaking. It'll do this just after switching gears too until it gets to higher RPMs. So, when I'm in 5th gear and going above like 60 mph it doesn't do it at all.
Two days ago I noticed subtle changes as I had to switch gears much later than normal. Within just two days of driving, it seems like it escalated quickly to the shaking when idle.

Doubt it is sparkplugs! Could be idle mixture set wrong, - but dont thaink that is it either! .........Check for vacuum leaks, you may have a broken hose,-- (or)- sometimes cars backfire through the carb, -and blow a hose off. If you have a vacuum leak, - the car will run badly at low rpms (too much air for the amount of gas going in).. The worse the leak, the worse the engine runs, (even at higher rpms). The faster the engine runs, the more closely the mixture becomes, as the vacuum leak is a specified amount, more air and gas going through makes the percentage of air closer to "right"!
If the engine is idleing, you should be able to hear the air "leak, as it makes sort of a "swooshing sound", - (or high pitched whistle sometimes)!... If the leak is bad enough, you may notice that the power brakes don't have much power, any more, - and it really takes a "lead foot" to make the car stop! Also a manifold gasket may have developed a leak, (which sounds near the same), -but you can't find any hose that you can pinch off, - or plug up that stops it from "sucking"! You may also be able to feel around the edges of the intake manifold gasket and feel the air pulling through....An old mechanics trick is to spray ether (very sparingly) - around the edges of intake manifold (especially places you can't see or feel around)--- When you get near the "leak" the engine will speed up and possibly even smooth out!............ As I said,- use sparingly, don't spray it around "like water"- that you are trying to put a fire out with!

Sounds like your OBC needs to be diagnosed. Advance Auto Parts will run an On-Board Computer check for free. The computer is having trouble sending the proper signal to the spark plugs at low RPM and this could be caused by a number of components. A general tune-up would definitley help cure this problem. If I knew the Make, Model, Engine and year I could give you more information.

A inventory mill ought to idle at around 750rpm, yet thats lean and propose. If u punched ur block, regardless of what some say, i could desire to compliment a somewhat greater idle to maintain it from chokin, to be waiting to talk. some a hundred rpm extra advantageous ensures ur burning all gasoline brought to engine, as adverse to unburnt gasoline killin ur cyl partitions. That few a hundred extra advantageous will in basic words burn somewhat extra advantageous on idle the area u stand the possibility of gasoline wash in case you somewhat do pick it down, and different than ur caught on intense way furnish up and pass internet site travellers, ur now no longer idling plenty besides. 1200 could desire to be a pair a hundred too intense yet will make motor very final extra, for my section. call an engine shop and word in the experience that they agree, yet get 2d opinion in the experience that they dont. they could be $ finding. If now no longer, enable or no longer this is and revel in ur toy longer than u could desire to, with decrease rpm. Its now no longer inflicting any injury diverse then some money on start up, and a furnish up symptoms and alerts. She,s a low revving mill, so in ordinary terms stay distant from 5000rpm. I never rev mine greater than 4500. It says 5700 is redline, yet u dont decide to touch that # as quickly as. 4500 will make certain a great number of situation unfastened showin off. 5700 is only a suggestion that i propose united statesa. sparkling of. happy trails!

Sounds like your idle is set too low. Does it sound like it might stall? A simple tune-up will probably fix it. Do-it yourself stuff, change the plugs, filters, etc. Probably take it to a reputable shop and have the idle set properly.

Spark plugs not firing properly. Maybe you have a loose spark plug wire. One (or more) of your pistons is not workin.
