That's a question that's not all that answerable. That's like asking who the greatest player of all time. Many people will contend that Jordan is, but I would argue for Wilt. While MJ has the rings to back it up, Wilt has the stats, and he had little help around him the way MJ did (until he came to LA with Jerry). Anyhow, is Jordan the greatest winner of all time? I'm a die-hard Laker fan, but I will say yes to that one. Now, is Kobe more talented? Age for age, Kobe is much more talented than Jordan is. No doubt in my mind. Kobe at 18 dominates Jordan...19...20, etc. And yes Kobe needed Shaq as Shaq needed Kobe. But it's ludicris to tell me that Jordan did not need anyone. Keep in mind that he did not win until Phil, Scottie and co. came in. And I'll be damned if your argument for who's better is based on who has more ring. I suppose Robert Horry is just up there as one of the greatest players isn't he? And stop eating up what the media and Shaq gives you about Kobe being a ballhog and never passing. Because you know, MJ's career assist just way surpasses Kobe's. Didn't know that .8 assists is all it took. Stats vs stats is completely skewed. MJ was a focal point of his offense for his whole life. Kobe was not until recently. Say what you want about Scottie, but does not command the ball nearly as much as Shaq did. Jordan was more of a pinch post player whereas Kobe plays a lot more on the perimeter. Common sense tells you that the closer you are to the basket, the more likely you are to score. Exhibit 1: Shaq. Kobe isn't any less of a player because he shoots a lesser percentage because he plays a completley different game from MJ's. Again, they simply have different games. Kobe dominates MJ when they both play on the perimeter. MJ was not a good shooter around that area, but hey, he dominated the pinch post, and hey, good for him. He's no doubt one of the greatest ever, and I promise you Kobe will be in the Hall of Fame. But give him a break, he still has at least 5 years on him to prove his worth. After that we can go back into this neverending debate.

But fact is, as the NBA generation goes on, the newer generation will always be more athletic and generally more talented than its predecessors. Just my two cents.

THe ball hog Kobe will never pass MJ.... what are you thinking. get it --- pass=== something he doesnt do....

Kobe shoots 45 %, his team mates shoot better % then him. of the starters, all but one do. yet he shoots more. go look it up, 2 of the starters are shooting over 50 %, yet Kobe shoots more....

Jordan shot almost 50% for a carreer. He shot below 45% 3 times.....
Jordan averaged 30 points a game for his carreer.
Kobe is at 23 a game.which means he needs to average 37 a game, for the next 10 years to beat MJ. WONT HAPPEN>

Jordan averaged more rebounds, steals, blocks, and assists, then Kobe. SO what are you thinking....

MJ. 6 championship rings,
Kobe 3 rings
In scoring Kobe is far better, but in caring the team Michael Jordan is good. Kobe might surpass MJ in scoring but in championship rings i don't think so. i think kobe might be more aclaimed after he retires. right now Kobe is the best.

Kobe is a very good player with great individual skills that will single-handedly take a game into his own hands. Note, I did not say that he was a leader.

Jordan was a great player that made the team around him better. Jordan was the team leader. Great players make their teammates better, show leadership, and help team chemistry. Kobe does none of that.

Jordan!!! Check out the young Jordan's games (youtube). You could easily tell he was better than Kobe during his prime. Jordan was fast and a good rebounder, and he was only a guard. In addition, he was a leader who carried the team. Kobe? blah....he was lucky that he didn't go to jail. Jordan didn't need a big man (Shaq) to win a championship. On the other hand, Kobe needed Shaq.
