When I try to play a DVD on my new computer, it tells me that I do not have a DVD Decoder installed. But, I do have the Decrypter...I have no idea what it is or does.

DVD Decrypter is the name of a program used for taking movie files off of a DVD and putting them onto the computer, also for copying DVDs. A DVD Decoder is a generic term for a program that allows you to play DVD movies on the computer. PowerDVD is one, there are many others. If you want a free one, go to www.videolan.org.

Decrypter removes the security info, if u want it to, and rips only the video and audio data. it cannot play them.

Decoder is used for playing audio and video files.
