I don't know what the age is in MI, but I was faced with a similar situation in Ks. But my daughter was 14 and he was 18 at the time, and I was unable to get the cops to do anything else I could prove that they was having sex. Which meant taking her to the ER and having a rape test done when I thought she had had sex with him. The cops didn't even do anything when they picked her up with him not once but twice as a runaway.
Now she is 16 and pregnant. But he is willing to support the child, so if I put him in jail now that I have proof, my daughter will hate me, and he will not be able to support the child.
No one wants their daughter to be having sex, especially why they are young and unmarried, but the best advice I have is make sure she is on birth control, Make her be on birth control if you have too. so she does not end up facing the problem that I am facing.

Yes it is wrong, if you care about her you won't have a problem waiting until she is legally an adult. The issue of sexual consent aside. Think about why it is that you prefer a 17 year old to somebody your own age before you proceed. It may seem like a good idea but nobody knows themselves at 17- did you?. Are you the same person that you were then because I seriously doubt the answer is yes. She will change and what she wants from life will change. Shes probably on her way to college soon and will meet people and have experiences there that will cause her to think and grow. If you are looking for a relationship that has better potential to last then you are probably better off looking for somebody who is a little closer to you own age. If you truly do care for this girl, the gentlemanly thing to do would be to at least wait until she is an adult. S x

The age of consent in MI is 16...but I believe there is an age limitation...2 yrs & 9 mos...considering that even at the of 16 one can make a fairly good decision, he/she may still be impressionable by an older adult.

It is 16 I believe. Call the local police department, they will be able to verify it.

i think the age of 18 is a nationwide law...however, as long as there is not 4 years of age difference between the kids, it's not illegal and can't be catergorized as statutory rape.
