I've heard that babies have to crawl before they can walk, otherwise they might have problems, but I don't know if its a myth or not.

Most babies walk around 12 months. But if they were really premature, they can be later walking. This happened to a third cousin of mine. He's over a year old and still not walking. He was about 4 months early and was lucky to survive. He's doing pretty well and should be walking soon.

I think it's fine to have your baby standing that young. Mine started right away. He seems fine so far,(7 months old) I think they start actually walking around 1 yr old.

"Toddlers are all normally bowlegged, some very much so. But their legs almost always straighten out by the time they're three years old. They may then even appear the opposite – knock kneed – for a year or so, before developing perfectly straight legs. If your toddler is well in every other way then it's unlikely to be anything to worry about. In the past bowlegs were often due to rickets caused by a vitamin D deficiency, but this doesn't occur in most developed countries these days.

Walking certainly won't make things worse – you should encourage your toddler to walk as much as possible. The exercise will help his legs to develop normally, strengthening muscles and bones. Make sure he wears comfortable, well-fitting shoes with non-slip soles when he's out. Inside, running around barefoot is good for him – so long as you're sure there's nothing sharp for him to stand on."

Sometimes doctors will actually tell you not to let them stand too much at that age cuz it can make them pigeon toed. I don't know if it's true or not but I've heard that before. My daughter was crawling at 5mo and walking at 7 same as me. But my son didn't crawl until 9mo and didn't walk until almost a year old. So every kid is different. It's sad to say but some kids it depends on the size of their upper body vs their lower body. Kids with bigger heads and skinny legs have a harder time walking cuz they are thrown off balance. It's normal and common. If your child has really strong legs and a smaller head it is more likely for them to walk sooner because it will be easier for them. But there really is no normal age for walking every kid is different. My best friend's baby is only a few weeks older than my son and so far past him it's not even funny. I was wondering if there was something wrong with my son but the doctor said it's normal for the second child to go slower because they are letting the older sibling do it all for them. My son is second born and my best friend's baby is first born. all kids are different.

Most start walking around a year. Starting to stand with support around eight months or so. If your baby has strong legs, that's good - try a Jolly Jumper.

Normal range for walking is 10-18 months. Babies will creep--hold onto things and walk side to side--when their leg muscles are strong enough to hold them. All babies will try to make stepping motions when they are held up with their feet near the ground. Take your cues from your baby. Push particular skills too fast and they will become frustrated.

Most babies walk around a year old. Some sooner and some longer. If your baby is not walking by 15 months old you should ask your doctor. My nephew started walking at 8 months.

well my little brother started walking about 3 months after he started crawling. But its in the genetics. If a mom started walking around 13 months then the baby will follow the same pattern.

Every child is different. My sister walked good at 9months. If she is trying to stand up at 2months that's great. Shes going to be a smart child. My grandmother told me that babies that learn new things early are very intelligent and become very successful. Good Luck
