is the ultrasound technician the same person as your ob. or do they have their own practice seperate

The Ultrasound tech is separate from your Ob GYN MD. Even if they do their own in the office they should still have a registered Ultrasound tech do the scans not the MD, unless they are licensed in Ultrasound as well as medicine.

My ultrasound technician was seperate from my ob.It was a guy with his own practice,but he's the only ultrasound technician in the office that my doctor allows only one to do ultrasounds on pregnant women.Unless it was for different medical reasons.

My doc does his own ultrasounds but some do send you off to an ultrasound tech...
just depends on what kind of doc you've got

It might depend on the office. My doctors office has 2 technicans that do ultrasound. When it was time for my growth sonogram, the technican did it and then he came and rechecked it.

It all depends on your office...sometimes the Ob does them, sometimes a Tech does with the doctor present. My office does them on site, some sent you to the hospital to heve them done.
