No. Maverick is Cedar Point's new roller coaster. There were rumors that it would break 500 feet although Maverick was designed with "all around fun in mind that didn't break any short lived records" (pretty much how Cedar Fair President Richard Kinzel said it on the park's site). It's only 105 feet tall with an LSM lift (magnetics), 95 degree drop, 4,450 feet in length, and 70 mph second LSM launch. It will run 6, 3 car trains and feature a mostly close-to-ground design. Same as all new Cedar Point coasters, the coaster is built by Intamin AG.
Maverick was announced on Sept. 7, 2006

The new coaster is Maverick. If you go to www.cedarpoint.com & click on the "New for 2007" box showing a horse in lower bottom portion of the screen & will start playing wild west type music. I'm signed up to get emails directly from Cedar Point & one of my emails went directly there. We've been to CedarPoint 4x & may be going back in 2007. Click on The Facts & then on Faq. It quotes: "Maverick is Cedar Point’s newest roller coaster! Traveling over 4,450 feet of steel tubular track, riders will feel the excitement as their train ascends up a 105-foot lift hill, propelled by linear synchronous motors. From the top, the train will drop 100 feet at an astonishing 95-degree angle! Throughout the experience, riders on Maverick will be treated to low-to-the-ground maneuvers, three inversions and a second launch that will send each train through a dark tunnel at speeds of 70 mph!"
There are other items of interest, most notabley: "How Many Roller Coasters Does Cedar Point Have?
Cedar Point is home of the world’s largest collection of thrill rides and roller coasters. With the addition of Maverick, Cedar Point will have 17 roller coasters – more than any other amusement park on Earth!"
And I've been on the other most recent newer coasters, both the Millennium that is 300 ft high & goes 97 mph & the Dragster that is 410 ft high & goes from 0 to 120 mph in 4 seconds. This park is greatest & viewing Lake Erie from the top of a coaster is awesome!! And even though it's on a Peninsula, it's a large park. Be prepared to bring your walking shoes or use the railway & or skytram. Speaking of red track I checked out their phote section again for Oct, which shows more of the coaster going up. Aug is when the red track starts getting put in place. Sept more track is put in place & you can see drops, dips & curves & some of the inversions they talk about. So far Oct just shows more of the track. Soon hopefully more track will be together. Also if you plan to go there, request a brochure ahead of time. They have great coupons in there to save money on tickets & souvenirs & food. We like the buy 1 get 1 free Starlight tickets for after 4pm or 5pm depending on when the park closes. The Sandusky Visitor & Convention Bureau will also send you a brochure if your request one & it will show other points of interest & may have coupons for those other things.

OMG, the last new coaster I rode there was the Magnum XL 2000, which was awesome at 200 feet high! I can't even imagine a 500-foot roller coaster, but if anyone's going to do it successfully, it will be Cedar Point, the roller coaster capital of the world! I have not been there in so long! Thanks for the memories.
