Alot of people dont understand that when a woman is violated internally, this does more than rip her emotions apart, it takes something from that person they can never get back. I think that the man had such a guilty concience that he apoligized, but I dont blame the woman for prosecuting him. An apoligy doesnt take away all the emotional, physical, and mental disaster the woman has been left with. You cant just apoligize for something like that, its not fixable. I sympathize with the man at least apoligizing, but he will never understand he literally took away this womans life.I hope this answered your question.

I have not heard of this story, but an apology letter just will not cut it for this type of crime. If he was a petty thief, and had stolen something of little value, then the letter would have been appropriate, but he deserves to be prosecuted. Hopefully he'll get raped in jail and then know the pain and humiliation that his victim felt. He needs to walk in his victim's shoes for a bit.

Does that mean she did not know who he was before the nitwit sent a signed letter to her?
I don't think that apologizing for a life-altering crime should get you off. Sort of like "Oops I am sorry I killed your mom. I was really cranky that day."
But if the guy was that nuts maybe he can find a lawyer who could try a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.

Yes, I did hear about this actually. He deserved the jail time if he had not already served jail time for his crime. We cant let him go just because he wrote some letter of apology.... then everyone would be writing sorry notes as a get out of jail free card.

That it was a no brainer having his written confession to a forcible felony making prosecution almost a slam dunk?

I haven't heard of it no but I think he caused her enough trauma years ago without sending her a letter to remind her that he even existed probably bringing back horrible memories. its called Karma and he should have went to prison years ago.

I would be scared to death because he knows where I live and my name! They only peace of mind I could have would be his imprisonment! Think of her fear and apprehension with him on the loose! She might even taken the letter as a veiled threat!

personally i think its great that this man came forward but because he came forward does not excuse the fact of what he did. If it were me i might have forgiven depending on the time frame of the insodent. Even though he was wrong for rapping i think its comendable that he came forward to this individual it must of been embarresing and hard to do but he did the right thing
