I have been using using Norton for years, I have never had a problem with it. It has found virus that other programs did not.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0, successfully completed all comparative tests conducted by the UK publication Virus Bulletin which compared antivirus solutions on a Windows XP platform. The purpose of the test is to determine how effectively products detect every type of virus found "in the wild." Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for was awarded the VB100% status after successfully detecting 100% of all viruses, while at the same time generating no false-positives.

Personally, I use the AOL AntiVirusShield. Don't let the name AOL scare you. AntiVirusShield is made by Kaspersky which is one of top-rated anti-virus vendors in the world.

In recent tests, the most popular free anti-virus, AVG, was only able to detect about 82% of a very large sample of viruses. On the other hand, AntiVirusShield was able to detect better than 99% in the same test.

AOL AntiVirusShield has excellent virus detection rates and is extremely light on using your computer resources.

Free to anyone, AOL member or not.

Get a Mac. Best anti-virus protection ever. Never gotten a virus after 10 years of owning macs.

Avast on Windows slows down my pc. Norton Anti-Virus cause lots of problems with software installation, some applications, and activex plug-ins with web browsers. McAfee totally destroyed a few PCs at my workplace. Had to reinstall Windows to fix it. Anyway, I would just stick with Norton.

I strongly recommend either Avast! or AVG. They are both free and work much better than something like Norton.

I have Symantic's Norton Anti-virus and it's garbage. I've had more problems with it than without it. I would suggest Windows one-center if your operating system would support it.

Grisoft Avg is great. You can download it for free. A friend of mine who works in IT has it on his computer at home. If he has it for his home computer, you know it's good.
