i own a repair shop, and keep that oil in there for at least 7500 miles ,its good for that much at the least, that's what i use all the time ,and i only have to change mine twice a year, yours will be good for at least 75-8000 miles before it needs changed, that's what synthetic oil is good for ,it last a long time, and protect the engine better, but yes keep it in there, you can go once a year on change and be good ,i hope this help,s.good luck with it.

Unless you do a lot of stop'n'go driving or drive in harsh conditions like extreme heat/cold and dusty conditions you only need to change your oil in the spring and fall due to your low mileage per year. If your driving includes mostly short trips where the motor doesn't really get a chance to warm up fully, this is a good interval. But if your trips are mostly longer and the car warms up properly you could easily get by with one oil change a year with the synthetics.

No one states 3,000 miles a year, no where, It is when your speedometer reaches the 3,000 mile mark is when to change it, Now manufacturers state that an unused car sitting for more then two months should impose the storage rule. Change the oil every three months, add gas stabilizer, use silicone on all hoses everywhere, put moth Chrystal's in a bag in the engine compartment to keep animals out.

Take it from a mechanic, YES
2000 miles is way too soon to change it.
The Mobile 1 synthetic is a very good oil. It is a man made oil and it does not get as dirty as a petrol base oils does.
You can let it go as long as 7000 and it will still look new even then when you drain it out.
This type of oil is good as long as you keep that brand of oil

yeah - you could stand to stretch that out to at least 3000 and maybe up to 5000 miles. if in very cold weather, you may need to change it more often.

you should change it every couple of months to avoid turning into a varnish like consistancy because oil does go bad
