I have 11 month old twin girls and they too are not big fans of sippy cups. They still refuse to use them.

I have tried several times, even with only one ounce of water or milk. They like holding their bottles and drinking from the bottle nipples., just do not like holding the sippy cup handles and drinking from the spout.

I have even showed then how to drink from it.

I even put the handles on the Avent bottles for them to start holding the handles, but no, they do not like it... Avent sells bottles with the handles on them. You can try this way and see if it will help.

So, I am guessing this is going to take a while to integrate into their feeding routine...

Avent makes bottles that have the sippy spout. The parts are interchangable with all Avent bottles. I tried those, but had the most luck with the Gerber Fun Grips 2-handle spill proof cups. They really don't spill, and my 8 month old doesn't have to work too hard to get the juice out.

That's another thing, I use sippy cups with apple juice. At first I tried watering down the juice, but she wanted none of it. Then I tried the juice "straight up" and she sucked it down.

Keep in mind, it usually takes LOTS of practice. I can't remember how long it took my daughter to finally drink out of the sippy cup. I kept letting her play with it, and just kept trying every few days. She finally figured it out and drinks from it every day. Of course, I still have to tilt it back so she can get the juice out, but at least she can drink from it now!

Good luck!

I have 2 sets of twins myself (one set is 3 the other just turned 1). We slowly introduced the sippy cup. My kids seem to prefer the Avent kind to the others because of the spout I think. Try and use it at every meal. I am weaning my youngest off of the bottle now. Its a little harder with twins, but they will eventually get the idea. Oh and I left the spill proof part off of it too, because it is kind of hard for them to get the idea at first. Once they figured that out then I put it back on.

only let them have the sippy cup. If they are thirsty they will drink. I have twins as well and they were stubborn too! They will get the hang of it eventually...also maybe try out different sippy cups to see if they like one more then another.

As others have said, avent soft spouts are usually the best accepted by little ones.

With both of my babies, it was very hard as they LOVED their bottles. I offered them a bottle of only water or a sippy cup of juice or milk. They would occasionally choose the bottle, but eventually chose the cup (to get the good stuff)often enough that I knew they could use them just fine and then tossed the bottles.

Good luck to you!

I have been given the sippy cups they sell that have the comfortable tops. That way they are able to press down on it some like the nipple of a bottle. Then I in basic terms started switching in the diverse standard sippy cups, and now she would not even take a bottle. i'm hoping this enables. i think of Gerber and Playtex the two make variations of this cup. it extremely is going to be their "point a million" (i'm enormously specific that's what they talked approximately because it....

With my daughters i offered a sippy cup with each snack. Put drinks they like in it. I started out with water with the non spill proof to prevent messes but you can get a spill proof sippy cup and juice, formula, water fill it 1/4 the way full and put them at ther high chair and help them learn to get it to their mouths. after a few meals they get the hang of it

Choose cups that have handles and are easy for your baby to grasp. I started mine with a cup that went from bottle to sippy to regular cup. The nipple was replaced with a spout that was also made of silicone and was soft like the bottle nipple. My son loved it.
I don't remember who made these bottle cups, but I'm sure you couod find it or something similiar wherever you baby your baby bottles and products.

The cold turkey approach never worked for my last one as it did for the first two. I gradually eliminated bottles for him. At the last stage, I gave him only 1 first thing in the morning, and then replaced it with a cup after about a week. Every kid is different though. Good for you...I can't stand to see a big kid carrying a bottle!!!
