RE:
Where can I find my speed "limiter" chip in my car?
I drive a 2005 Pontiac GTO. I have no idea what my top speed is (if you know, please tell me), but I do know that all cars' top speeds are limited staight out of the factory. How can I rectify this?

A 2005 system has what's known as OBD2 technology. The "chip" is not a replaceable item. Known as a EEPROM or "Electronic Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory", it must be re-programed with the calibration you desire. Don't count on any dealership recalibrating the EEPROM for more speed. Their lawyers would go nuts.

There isnt a speed limiter chip. Its contolled by the ecu, the ecu cuts fuel at a certain speed. You can by chips to change your performacne; hp, torque, governor- or as you called it speed limiter chip. Cars from the factoy are set at a standard that is well below what the car is capable of, this is done with the computers, that is why chips are able to do what they do. The " reprogram" the computer letting more of the avalible torque and hp available to use.

its in your PCM!!!! witch is your computer. and it does not cut fuel to the engine, it simply knows not to let you go any faster then lets say 4000 rpms in your final gear. to get rid of it, simply get a hypertech, or superchips tuner. both are around $400, and both you can take out the rev limitor. also both you can get more horsepower out of your car.
